Medical

For dialysis and water for injection, water must be free of a fever-causing substance called endotoxin. UF membranes are widely used for endotoxin removal and can reduce energy costs and CO2 emissions compared to technologies such as distillation. Beyond dialysis and water for injection, UF membranes are broadly used for purification of water across the medical field.

Why Kuraray?

Kuraray's hollow fiber membrane products combine high endotoxin removal performance with high water permeability, and are widely used for endotoxin removal, especially in the dialysis field, where they have been used for over 40 years.

Performance required in the medical field

Extensive track record

In the medical field, performance tends to be emphasized, and Kuraray has more than 40 years of experience and a wealth of achievements, mainly in dialysis applications, protecting the health of approximately 183,000 patients.

High endotoxin removal performance

When endotoxin enters the bloodstream, it causes fever and inflammation. Kuraray's UF membrane modules can remove more than 99.999% of endotoxin.

High water permeability

It combines high endotoxin removal performance with high water permeability, enabling filtration with a small number of modules.

Right-Sized Module Selection

If a module larger than the desired volume of treated water is used, there is a risk of water stagnation in the module and contamination of the filtered water. Kuraray offers a lineup of three different sizes, depending on the volume of treated water, to help reduce the risk of filtered water contamination and optimize costs.
