Application: Wastewater Recycling
Why Kuraray?
Wastewater such as discharge water after biological treatment, cooling tower blowdown water, and general wastewater is generated in all industries, but the water quality varies greatly from plant to plant and fluctuates widely, making wastewater recycling a costly process. Kuraray's hollow fiber membrane products are highly resistant to fouling due to hydrophilic coating technology and their applicability to high-SS wastewater, preventing membrane clogging and enabling stable operation.
Performance required for wastewater recycling applications
Fouling-Resistant Membrane
Typical membrane products are manufactured from hydrophobic materials, and organic matter in wastewater can contaminate the membrane and cause clogging. Kuraray products are treated with hydrophilic resin to prevent membrane contamination by organic matter and ensure stable filtration operation.
Handling High-SS Wastewater
When wastewater quality fluctuates, high-SS wastewater can flow into the membrane filtration system, causing membrane fouling. Kuraray's products enable stable filtration operation even with high-SS wastewater through a proprietary cleaning mechanism, and overall equipment costs can be reduced by minimizing pretreatment.
High Chemical Resistance
In the event of membrane clogging, chemical cleaning is used to remove the contaminants that cause contamination, allowing for continued filtration operation. Kuraray's hollow fiber membrane products have high chemical resistance and can be used stably over long periods of time despite repeated chemical cleaning.
High Water Recovery Rate
Kuraray's air backwashing technology does not use permeate to clean membranes, which significantly reduces wastewater and allows for more efficient use of water.
